====
Common Questions/Answers for Poweramp v2.x:
Q. My songs are missing from folders/library.
A. Please ensure you have all your folders with music actually checked in Poweramp Settings => Music Folders.
Your original Android Library is not changed, nor any files deleted.
Poweramp library is a separate, completely independent library. When you installed Poweramp 2.0, it just got filled with the files scanned from your sd card/other flash memory, as specified in Music Folders.
Q. Freeze/too slow folders/library scan
A. You have (semi)broken SD card. Please check your SD card for errors on computer or try another SD card.
Q. Volume too low. Volume changes weirdly. Other volume issues.
A. Try to disable Direct Volume Control in PowerAMP Settings => Audio Engine => Advanced Tweaks.
Poweramp 2.x uses Direct Volume Control by default on 2.3+ mid-to-high end devices. On stock ROMs this produces much better audio output. But many custom/buggy ROMs, while supporting DVC, can fail with it.
Q. Poweramp 2.0 widget becomes white/doesn't work on phone reboot
A. This can happen if something blocks Poweramp from starting on reboot and updating the widget - task managers, auto-start tweaking. If you use such apps/tweaks, you may need to add Poweramp (or/and WidgetPack) to exceptions list.
Q. Can I get Poweramp v1.4 look?
A. You can download "Poweramp Classic Skin" on Market.

What's in this version:

CyanogenMod Posts Update to Galaxy SIII Build Using New Unlocked Bootloader

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

The kexec development to get custom kernels onto the locked-down Galaxy SIII was nothing short of valiant, but since yesterday things have changed. An insecure bootloader can be flashed to the device now making things much easier. To reflect this change, the CyanogenMod team has released an alpha build of CM10 that has to be paired with the new bootloader.
This build has better 4G connection than had been reported in the earlier builds along with a few other bugfixes and changes. The link below has the downloads for both the CM10 file and the bootloader in case you missed it.

Flash Downloader Lets You Download Flash in Case You Missed the Deadline

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

If you missed the deadline to download Adobe Flash to your Android device, or yours runs Jelly Bean, then Flash Downloader is an option for you to get official Flash installed. It’s a Google Play app that when opened, initiates the download of a Flash .apk from Adobe’s servers. It doesn’t get much cleaner than this.

AOKP Gives State of the Union, Official Jelly Bean Build Coming ‘Soon’

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

Things have been a little quiet on the AOKP front, but yesterday the group took to Google+ to assure their fans that they have not disappeared and that things were coming on the horizon. First things first, the team addressed the issue of their next official build of AOKP, based on Jelly Bean:
First, a 'build' is coming. *We're getting very close to an official, non-nightly JB build. *Just throwing that out there with no ETA to let you know that it is a real thing that will happen, pretty soon.
“Pretty soon” sounds good to us, so we will sit tight and wait using their nightlies until things get more official. Secondly, the team announced a new IRC channel, #aokp-support, for any problems that you may have with the ROM. Even better still, the AOKP team says that there is a reworking of their website underway. It is promised to make the whole experience better and more streamlined.
Lastly, there is a call for device maintainers after their new build comes out. If you’re a developer looking to get in on the AOKP team and help to maintain and code for a certain device, the team has a checklist of what you need in their post.
Are you still running AOKP or have you moved on to another ROM for your daily driver?

Judge Koh to Apple’s Lawyers: “You’re Smoking Crack”

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

That was a fun title to write. Today, Judge Koh was handed a 75-page document from Apple that details rebuttal witnesses for when Samsung has closed their arguments. Judge Koh, apparently becoming more and more unpleasant during the trial, was handed the document then nearly shouted,*”when unless you’re smoking crack you know these witnesses aren’t going to be called!”
You go, girl!*
Apple’s attorney, probably shaking, stepped forward and replied with, “First, your honor, I’m not smoking crack. I can promise you that.” Classic. This trial only gets better and better.

Discover Makes Use of Google Wallet’s New APIs, A Step in the Right Direction?

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

To say that Google Wallet has had a rough beginning would be a bit of an understatement. However, Google is looking to reboot the service and get more people using NFC transactions with their Android devices. A few weeks ago, Google launched a system allowing you to use any card number with Google Wallet, along with a few new APIs for companies to use. Discover has taken advantage of the “Save to Wallet” API and now wants you to add your card and start spending.
The process is as easy as heading to Discover’s website, signing into your Discover and then Google Account and that’s it, your card is added. You can now rack up points by using the card through NFC and Discover was even nice enough to allow Google to use an image of their card on Google Wallet so you can identify which card you are using. Hopefully we will see more companies jumping on the Google Wallet train and making the switch this easy.

Instagram Updated to Version 3.0, New Photo Map and Infinite Scrolling

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

Instagram users, today is your day.*Version*3.0 has been released for Android, bringing with it plenty of new features that users have been waiting for and one that is completely new. The biggest addition in the update is called Photo Map. If you geo-tag your photos, you can browse through your photos on a map, showing where the pictures were taken. It’s a neat new way of browsing the past especially since you can also see other’s maps too.
The other new feature that we’ve been dying for is infinite scrolling. No more “Load More” buttons at the bottom of the screen. Simply keep on scrolling.
You can go pick up the newest update in Google Play now. And while you’re at it, you should go ahead and follow @droidlife. We’ll be posting plenty of Android fun stuff!

From the Creator of BlindType, Comes a New Keyboard App Called Fleksy

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

BlindType has had a long history in Android. Introduced to the public exactly two years ago in August of 2010, it was quickly snatched up by Google, then implemented into what we now know as the Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard. Well, the creators still aren’t done innovating quite yet. Recently released for iOS and coming later for Android, is Fleksy.*
Fleksy is a new*replacement*keyboard, designed for the blind and partially sighted users. But don’t worry, if you’re able-sighted, use of the app can benefit you as well. The goal as*stated*by the developers is to make typing fast and easy. One of the ways this will be made possible is to allow for users to type wherever they want, with no actual keyboard on the screen. One of the more remarkable features is that when typing a word, you don’t even have to get a single character correct. Magically, Fleksy knows what you’re trying to type and auto-corrects it for you. Another nifty looking feature is a swipe to delete action that they show off in the video below.
It’s going to be pretty awesome from what we see in the video, so fingers crossed it makes its way to Android sooner rather than later!

Phosphor Game’s Horn Launches for Mobile Devices, Coming to Android “Soon”

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

This is starting to become a theme for the good Android games. This morning, the anticipated new game Horn from Phosphor Games (the makers of Dark Meadow) was released onto iTunes, but no love yet for Android. The game was previewed at Google I/O and looks genuinely awesome. The game is a third-person action adventure title where players roam around a “console-like” world all with touch controls.*
You play as Horn, the town’s young blacksmith. You wake up to find that the town is under a*terrible*curse that turns all living things into monsters. Naturally, you’re the only person that can lift the curse. Guess we’ll just have to wait for “soon” to come so we can get our hands on the game for a full review.

HTC Posts Kernel Source Code for DROID Incredible 4G LTE to HTCDev.com

Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:34 PM PDT

HTC’s*latest version of the DROID Incredible line didn’t impress many people, namely because it couldn’t stand up against the One X and even the One S. Nevertheless, some people did stick with the Inc 4G LTE and those customers are going to be happy with today’s news. HTC has taken to their developer website HTCDev and posted the kernel information for the device, available for download right now. This should spur some better development for the device, so if you do any work on the Incredible 4G LTE hit the source link and get your download on.

  • Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi Display, MHL HDMI, USB OTG

With pricing said to be at just $310, how could this device not become a hit? As for importing, we’re sure you can. But is there any network that can support it? With all of those bands packed inside, we can’t imagine that the device would be completely incapable of running on a couple of America’s Edge networks.
Let’s hope they release an unlocked version of some kind that isn’t made for the Chinese market.

Unsecure Bootloader Can Now be Flashed to Verizon’s Galaxy S3

Posted: 15 Aug 2012 05:28 PM PDT

And the news of the day goes to…XDA developers who managed to flash an unsecure bootloader to the Verizon Galaxy S3. Developer*AdamOutler posted up a file for Mac and Linux that will root your GS3 and apply the unsecure bootloader, leaving your device open for you to do as you please. I cannot even express in words how big of an achievement this is for the community of Galaxy S3 owners that were beyond upset with Verizon’s choice to lock the bootloader of this device.*
*Warning (straight from Adam) -*Let me make this clear. If Samsung updates your device’s bootloaders, using this tool could potentially brick your device. Once you apply this,*never accept a factory update*without first flashing the Odin Packages in the*Original Post of this thread. As a general rule,*you*want to be the last guy to apply any Samsung update. Run custom.
Let me say what he said one more time, so that we are clear. After applying this unsecure bootloader, you will not want to accept an update from Samsung or Verizon again. You’ll have to stay with custom ROMs for the*foreseeable*future, to be safe.
With that said, are you ready for freedom?
Instructions:

1. *Download the file at the source link below and open it.
2. *Select Root with DebugFSRoot and Do It.
3. *Select Flash Unsecure Aboot and Do It.
4. *Use Odin or CWM to flash kernels to your device.

Wednesday Poll: Do You Live in a Verizon 4G LTE Market?

Posted: 15 Aug 2012 05:28 PM PDT

This morning, Verizon announced that as of tomorrow, 75% of the country will be covered by their 4G LTE network. That got us thinking, “What about the Droid Life community?” We have done maps of the community before, to see what areas you all reign from, but we haven’t ever asked if you get to take advantage of Big Red’s ultra-fast network. As this rollout continues to come close to 100% of the country, we thought we’d ask to see what percentage we sit at. So tell us, are you enjoying 4G LTE? If so, for how long?
Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

When setting up your Google account on an Android device, it will port all of your already saved numbers to that device. But what if you want to add a new contact to your account after the fact? There are a couple of ways to go about this, so let’s get started.*
Standard Method:

1. From your homescreen, open your app drawer.
2. Locate the People application and open it.
This is where you can find and edit all of the contacts that are synced to your Google account.
3. In the bottom right hand corner, there is a little head with a plus symbol. That is the Add Contact icon. Select it.
4. Fill out the new contact’s name and any information you want associated with that contact (email, phone number, address, pictures, etc.).
5. Hit “Save.”
You have now added a contact to your Google account that will remain there until you delete it.
Alternative Method:

One of the other ways to add a contact to your account is straight from the Dialer/Phone app. Here is how to accomplish that task.

Ubi Kickstarter Begins, Always On Voice Activated Internet Device for Your Home

Posted: 15 Aug 2012 05:28 PM PDT

Say, “Hello” to Ubi. Ubi is short for*ubiquitous computer because Ubi is always on and always listening. It is a truly hands-free device for your home that plugs right into an outlet on the wall, then connects straight to your home’s WiFi network. So, what can you do with Ubi? Ubi can do voice-based searches on the Internet, act as a personal assistant, control a home’s climate, be a baby monitor, and also act as a notifier for when receiving emails and other notifications.*
The team is hoping to have Ubi ready and shipped out by January of 2013, but needs your help to make it happen. Check it out on Kickstarter and let us know if Ubi is something that *interests you. It definitely has our attention as long as it doesn’t go all HAL on us and telling humans what we can and cannot do.

Order a 16GB Nexus 7 From Staples and Save $15 Plus Free Shipping

Posted: 15 Aug 2012 05:28 PM PDT

Ten minutes ago, I got all excited over the fact that if you order(ed) a Nexus 7 16GB from Staples today, you could save $15 off using a special coupon code, but also get free shipping since you would be spending over $45. Unfortunately, as I was in the middle of writing this, I noticed that they appear to have gone from “In Stock” to “Out of Stock” in minutes. I would assume that they will replenish stock of the device before too long, so I still thought I would share. Who knows, they could get another shipment in before the weekend is over and this code may continue to be valid. If you have yet to pick up an N7, you may want to jot this one down and continue to check back.*
Buy. *(Coupon code:*99618)
Cheers Chris!
