Nike's new FuelBand is all the rage in fitness circles these days. It's similar to a Fitbit, but it employs a new metric that Nike is pushing called NikeFuel that aims to measure the amount of physical activity you perform in a day. It also counts your steps, calories burned and tells you the time while remaining ultra minimal on your wrist. It really is a pretty cool idea.
Mine arrived yesterday, and so far, I can see how it can become addicting. You set NikeFuel goals for each day and then try to beat them by working your tail off in the gym, on the road, or on the court. If you beat them, the NikePlus site tells you how awesome you are and it will even keep streaks if you were to pass goals for a number of days in a row. It has a fancy online presence, giving you all sorts of information to analyze when it comes to your*physical*performances.
There is one thing it is lacking right now though – an Android app. As has been the case for years, Nike released this new product with an iOS app instead of one for Android. The app allows you to wirelessly sync with your FuelBand so that you can keep track of your progress throughout the day without having to remove it from your wrist and plug it into a computer.
Being the annoying Android blogger that I am, I asked Nike what the deal was on Twitter. Thankfully they responded with, "The Android app will be available Summer 2012." So there you have it. Manual syncing for the next 4-5 months.

We thought that Google TV users were the lucky ones, but it appears now as if a variety of Android devices including the Galaxy Nexus and Motorola XOOM are receiving the new Google Play Store. Not much changes as far as functionality goes, but the logo and look certainly have. Check it out after the break.*

When Google announced that the new Google Play Store would start to roll out in the coming days and weeks, we weren't sure which devices would see it first. I think it's safe to say that Google TV units are the lucky ones, as my Blu-Ray version updated the minute I powered it on and opened the Market. From a GTV perspective, not much has changed other than the new logo and some coloring.*
Cheers Chris!

Let's go ahead and get this out of the way since we have yet to mention it and tomorrow is the day. Even if you live under a rock, you probably know that Apple is going to announce their new iPad tomorrow, rumored to be called the iPad HD *because of some insane resolution. They also may introduce their first TV, meaning they will tell you that they re-invented something that has already been re-invented a dozen times and then sue the world for it because they filed a patent for it 5 years ago, but failed to actually produce the technology until now. Yeah, it'll happen. But back to the main point.
Verizon's site since last night has had this big banner with a "Something Is Coming." slogan across it. It's about the new iPad. It has nothing to do with any Android phone or family share plan or self-charging LTE battery-modem-combo-work-of-art. The only other time that I have seen them place a banner like this on their front page, was for one of the iPhones – I think it was the iPhone 4S.
So with that out of the way, feel free to provide your thoughts on any thing I just rambled off.

Wait a minute Apple, we thought the term "license" was banned for life from your campus like a Gizmodo editor. What's this we are hearing about you offering potential licensing deals of patents to Samsung and Motorola? No more "thermonuclear war?" What happened to spending every last penny in the bank to destroy Android? Oh, things have changed according to sources familiar with the matter.
After battling with the entire Android world for a couple of years now, Apple may have realized that ridding the world of their biggest competitor's partners is probably not going to happen. Reports have them offering licensing deals of $5 – $15 per device to Samsung and Motorola, two companies that they have both won and lost patent spats with in the last few months. These numbers come in at around 1% – 2.5% of net sales per device, which are numbers similar to what Moto was asking them for in their German win, yet Apple*whined like children at how unfair of a number it was.
Company spokespersons from all of the companies involved refused to comment, so this is all unconfirmed for now. It certainly tells you one thing though, that Apple's direction and focus is already changing with Tim Cook at the helm.

With a big renaming campaign taking place today from Google, there have been a lot of people who have voiced their opinions over the new Google Play name. Google's move for a name change is still being*dissected*and analyzed for meaning, but we know that Google must have a good reason behind it. Was it a strategic move against competitors or was it to satisfy the media industries (read: music industry disappointment) that have invested a ton of money into making their content sell? Let us know what you think of the new name down below and if it was a good move by Google.
