How to unlock Smart Samsung Tab.

1. Root the Tab, I used z4root, it works fine, z4root.1.3.0.apk: Download it to your TAB and Root ithttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/34917226/And...root.1.3.0.apk
2. Install Super Manager as your root explorer. Enable root function in settings.
3. Backup /efs folder with Super Manager to your SDcard to be sure.
4. Open a copy of nv_data.bin in a hex editor. I installed HexEditor. Change 00181462 to 00 (note edit point is currently 01. It is the first two digits after seven "ff").
5. Open /efs with Super Manager set to Mount R/W and your modified nv_data.bin in the Root Explorer clipboard.
6. Rename or delete nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 and paste nv_data.bin (you have the originals in your /efs backup).
7. Reboot and test with non Smart sim, it should just work, although you will probably need to enter your carrier's APN info to get data working. /Settings/Wireless and network/Mobile networks/Access Point Names, create and save new APN.

Installation:

a) coming from RocketROM v1

1.Wipe nothing!
2.Flash ROM
3.enjoy

b) coming from any other ROM
1.make sure you are on a rooted ICS-ROM or JB-ROM with CWM recovery and brickfree kernel installed
2.copy ROM on your USB-storage
3.boot in Recovery
4.FullWipe (also when coming from other Sammy-JB-ROM!)
5.Format SYSTEM!!!
6.flash ROM (it will reboot automatically in most cases)
7.flash Keyboard-Fix from post #3

Remaining Issues:

1.CapsLock in Sammy keyboard when beginning to write
2.Productivity Tools in SNote not working

A senior member of XDA 'shimp208' posted ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.1.5 for Nexus 10 by extracting the stock recovery.img from the Nexus 10's Factory Image and then running it through clockworkmod builder.

No testing done so far by the developer. Highly risky!!

Someone from the Android community tested it. The device displayed the menu for a few seconds and then the tablet rebooted.
And then finally refused to boot.

Hi all,


Here is the guide on how to root the hottest Android in the market: LG NEXUS 4.

This has been tested on Nexus 4, however, please try at your own risk. I will not be liable if your device gets damaged or bricked during the process.

So far we know two ways to root this phone.



  1. Using ClockworkMod recovery to flash a zip file containing root files.
  2. Booting with an insecure boot image and manually transferring root files to the device via ADB.





Needless to say, rooting using the custom recovery will be the easiest and safest way to go. In addition, we will also be providing instructions for flashing ClockworkMod recovery.

Requirements

Nexus 4 with unlocked bootloader. For instructions on unlocking the bootloader, refer to our Android bootloader unlock guide.
ADB with fastboot installed on your system. You should see our guide on what is ADB and how to install it.

The version 6.0.1.8 is optimized for Android 4.2 and will not create any problem with wiping your sdcard , you just need to know that sdcard will be listed in "0" folder in the Recovery from now on and this is not a bug it just that new multiuser thing in Android 4.2
