Video: Chromium OS Ported to Nexus 7, Up and Running Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT Today, we’re getting the first glimpse into a project created by Android developer, Hexxeh, who has successfully ported the open source Chrome OS to a Nexus 7 tablet. The port isn’t ready for everyone’s tablets quite yet, but as soon as some bugs are worked out, it will be released for all. Nifty, right?* To learn more about the project, check out the developer’s blog post right here. Click here to view the embedded video. |
Amazon Price Matches Best Buys $100 Galaxy S3 Discount Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT With Best Buy running a $100 off promotion for the Samsung Galaxy S3 today, Amazon was feeling a bit left out and decided to tweak their own listings. Both new customers and those with upgrades can take advantage of a $99 deal on the Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T GS3 16GB models. T-Mobile isn’t listed, but Sprint is. And since Best Buy isn’t discounting the Sprint version, then this is your option, Sprint customers. Both blue and white versions are discounted – you’ll find links to blue below. Amazon Links: *Galaxy S3 (Verizon) | Galaxy S3 (Sprint) | Galaxy S3 (AT&T) Cheers Jonathan! |
Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT When Samsung first introduced the original Galaxy Note, there were plenty of tech pundits that giggled, poked fun at the product, and then proceeded to make up as many ridiculous tablet-hybrid names as possible. Little did they know that Samsung had a new star on their hands, that would compliment the already massively successful Galaxy S series. So when the Galaxy Note 2 was announced, there were fewer jokes, as it was obvious that Samsung had carved out a special niche in the smartphone game. In this review, I’ll talk about its unique features that help set it apart from others. But most importantly, we still need to talk about the size, since that’s still the deciding factor here. Is it too big or are you ready to buy into the super-sized phone market?* The Good:
The Not-so-Good:
Gallery: vs. Galaxy S3 The Verdict: Oh, boy, the verdict. This is a tough one. The Galaxy Note 2 is an incredible smartphone, there is no denying that. What you will all have to decide is whether or not you can deal with the size on a daily basis. I personally, couldn’t wait to get back to my “smaller” Galaxy S3, but that doesn’t mean that the majority of you won’t love the 5.5″ display and large body of the Note 2. There really are few negatives to this phone. It’s powerful, polished, stable, and Samsung’s best work yet. It’s just one of those hybrid products that there is no way for me to say one way or the other if you are going to love it. You are the one buying your next smartphone, so if you think the Note 2 may be it, I suggest you go get your hands on one. Pocket it. Caress it. Use the S Pen. Snap photos. Navigate around the UI. Hold it up to your head and look in the mirror. Like what you see and feel? Then I think you have made your decision. |
Video: You Knew It Was Coming iPad Mini Vs. Nexus 7 Vs. iPad 3 Drop Test Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT If there is one thing we can always be certain of, it’s that as soon as a new fancy tech product comes out, someone is scrambling to create a drop test video. We don’t care about the device insurance they might be pushing or any of that stuff, because all we care about is watching these expensive pieces of hardware get smashed for no real reason. Maybe it’s just because we’re American and we can’t get enough explosions and monster trucks.* Anyways, this newest video is of the iPad Mini, Nexus 7, and iPad 3. Start taking bets as to which device you think takes the most damage! Battle! Click here to view the embedded video. |
3rd Party Twitter App Echofon Heads Into Beta Phase, Improved UI and a Whole Lot More Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT An app we have covered in the past which we enjoyed,*Echofon, a 3rd party Twitter client that was launched in mid-October, has been updated to version 2.0. Dropping the alpha title and picking up the cleaner sounding “beta” tag, the update has some great improvements such as multi-account support, direct replies to direct messages from the notification bar (Jelly Bean devices only), and improved desktop sync. If you want to give the new version a test drive which we would recommend, a download link is below. Download* You can view the full changelog here. Via: Echofon |
Google Revamps How You Use Google Wallet on Mobile Websites Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT After yesterday’s*excitement*about a possible*physical Google Wallet card, it’s becoming more obvious by the day that Google is taking mobile payments seriously. To make Google Wallet an overall better experience, they are revamping how Wallet works on mobile websites, which has never been a good experience up until now. Google has added in a button that allows you to add items to your Google Wallet cart which, instead of going through the website and filling in all your information each time, you can complete the order from Wallet*separately. It’s the little changes like this that will really help Wallet to move forward in the long run. Now go and order all the things from the web! Via:*Google |

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT This morning, Motorola’s forum manager Matt, has started the process of sending out the invites to their feedback community for a soak test that will take place for the DROID RAZR M. Verizons DROID DNA Pictured In Red and Black, Release Set For Early December? Posted: 02 Nov 2012 02:55 PM PDT Moments ago, a press render of HTC’s 5″ super device, the*DROID DNA, was posted onto Twitter. Along with the image was also a very important piece of info, a suspected release time of “early December.” From earlier reports, we were expecting this device to be made available around mid-November, but that wasn’t confirmed from HTC or Verizon. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the device*with Verizon branding, but it is the first we’ve seen of a completely new DROID eye and red binding around the edges. Thoughts? Via: @Evleaks |
